Problem statement

As a product manager on Google Pay's Growth team, increase monetization from the app by using its existing user base and distribution.

Research

  • Surveyed 30 respondents and ran interviews; the majority were regular GPay users
  • Most users expressed satisfaction concerns and a desire for more relevant rewards
  • Recurring pain points: a cluttered interface, unclear payment-failure states, a ₹1L transaction limit, and no cross-border payments
  • A meaningful share of users expressed interest in a premium tier
